  5.  Remove the bottom and top covers and remove the front panel cover. You must
  6. then remove the front board by carefully unplugging it (don't touch the LCD
  7. display). On the back of this board, which is the control unit, locate jumpers
  8. 1 through 12 and unsolder any that are soldered.
  9. All jumpers (1-12 only) must be open.
  10. Reinstall the control unit and turn on the radio for a few seconds.
  11. Now turn it off, remove the control unit again and solder jumpers 3, 4, 5
  12. and 11 only.
  13. Put everything back together and apply power.
  14. If all is well, the display will read 000.
  15. Press the MHz button and rotate the main dial until 132.000 is shown on the
  16. display, then press D/MR once. 
  17. Now press the MHz button again and rotate the main dial until  180.000 is
  18. shown. Press D/MR once more.

  20. The radio is now programmed to operate from 132 to 180MHz. Mine has Tx and
  21. Rx through the entire spectrum with excellent sensitivity from 136 to 178.
  22. Don't forget that transmitting outside the amateur band is not allowed, so
  23. please don't break your licence terms.
